Here are full results & brief analysis of Smackdown's
house show date 22nd April from the Point Arena in
Dublin Ireland.
>From Rajah.com reader Brian Weldon.
Renee Dupree-vs-Hardcore Holly
Slow match, great heat for both guys. A lot of
stalling, Holly wins clean with the Alabama slam.
Slightly dissapointed at the lack of the
French-Tickler though! Holly was cheered a lot here
boy do the Irihs like him. (I don't)
Cruiserweight Chamionship Battle Royal
Spike-vs-Akio-vs-Nunzio-vs-Scotty2Hotty-vs-Shannon
Moore-vs-Chavo-vs-Kidman-vs-Funaki-vs-London (Champ)
Fun match, Spike waited outside the ring until all the
competitors got a multiple headlock spot going, and
ran in beating on all guys at once, annoying all the
guys at once! Spike was then held down by all the
workers so that Scotty could hit the worm to a huge
pop! Final 4 : Funaki, Chavo, Kidman and London. Once
Funaki was eliminated by Chavo, both heels went after
London and beat him down until he hit the dropsault on
them both. Chavo was eliminated, and then London threw
Kidman out in what looked like a botched spot(I think
Kidman was supposed to skin-the-cat and come back in,
but messed it up). Slightly dissapointed that we
didn't get a few minutes of Kidman-v-London at the
end. Chavo got a few great face pops though!
Luther Reigns-vs-Charlie Haas
Reigns jawed with the crowd for a bit, got a long heat
spot on Haas, who then made his big comeback and built
up to a big move-then hit a knee-drop. (Why?) Finish
came when Haas went for a jumping high cross-body from
the top, but Reigns was just lying on the ground. Once
again-looked botched. Reigns finished with his Roll
the Dice finisher. Haas lay injured for a while, and
then had words with Ricky Steamboat at ringside about
something or other. Dunno if it was a legit injury
though.
Big Show & John Cena-vs-JBL & Kurt Angle
JBL came out dressed like a leprachaun to "Irish
Rover" and cut a typically funny promo(he's still
holding the old title btw, are they gonna do a "Real
World Champ" gimmick???). Angle then followed and they
started dropping elbows on the Irish flag, and I
thought it was very funny! Show and(particularly) Cena
got huge pops. Decent enough match. Cena busted JBL
open, finish came when Show was awkwardly budled over
the top-rope by Angle, and Cena hit the FU on JBL,
then on Angle, on-top of JBL!
I personally though it was a bit of a mistake putting
Cena with Show, because it made Cena have to play
face-in-peril, where the crowd would have been driven
nuts if someone made the big tag to Cena, who hits all
his signature moves to get the win.
After the match came a monster beatdown, where members
of the Cabinet came out and beat the tar out of Cena,
including a MASSIVE unprotected chairshot to Cena from
JBL & a huge shot with the steel steps. Referees
eventually had to clear the ring. Cena was dragged out
of the ring, gushing juice.
There was an intermission here.
Carlito Carribean Cool-vs-Mark Jindrak
Carlito is the man, and the crowd loved him. I dunno
what the they were thinking putting Jindrak out with
him. Is he heel? Is he face? Was there ever a turn?
Either way, the crowd dumped all over Jindrak &
chanted Cool for 5 straight minutes. Finish to this
comedy match came when CCC rolled up Jindrak for 3
with his feet on the ropes. Carlito chanted at the top
of his voice every time he was hit with a move "that's
not cool."
Tag Team Title Match
MNM-vs-Rey & Eddie
MNM look to have a great future ahead of them nitro in
particurl looked good. Eddie was GOLD(as per usual!).
Finish came when Rey and Eddie were distracted by
Myleene (Sp?) and ended up having an argument(story
line continuity? At an International house-show?
HUZZAH!), and MNM hit the double ddt finisher. Rey and
Eddie got their heat back after the match. Good match.
MNM are quality!
Torrie Wilson-vs-(her stepmother)Dawn Marie
special guest announcer : Joy Giovanni, Special ref :
Miss Jackie
Miss Jackie and Torrie's outfit's were awesome! After
2 minutes of an abortion of a match, Miss Jackie
inexplicably clotheslined Torrie. Joy Giovanni helped
out Torrie and counted the pin for Torrie, who hit her
neckbreaker on Dawn Marie. ****1/4 They really put on
a wrestling cinic out there. Not really it was
embarrsing to say the least but at least they looked
good.
John Cena came out around this point, calling out JBL
and Angle. There was another attempted beatdown and
Cena kept trying to fight them off, eventually Angle
took him down and they kicked lumps out of him, until
the entire locker room, heels & all came out to help
Cena.
US Title Match
Orlando Jordan©-v-The Undertaker
I've already seen Takers entrance live, so it wasn't
such a big deal to me. Still very cool though, and 20%
of his move-set! Taker suprisingly gave OJ a lot of
offence, before hitting his signature moves.
Eventually there was a ref bump, and OJ hit Taker with
the title to escape a choke-slam. Taker got his heat
back by giving OJ a tombstone.
Overall an enjoyable show.
Biggest pops.
Carlito
Undertaker
Eddie & Rey
Cena & Show
Biggest Heat
JBL
Charlie Hass (Charlie is gay chants.)
